Backend Developer Lead (JavaScript)

ShobShop is the leading social commerce platform in Thailand and Southeast Asia with more than 5 million followers. Everyday we inspire shoppers to discover items of their interest with our own elaborate content on comprehensive social media, along with our cutting-edge technology to deliver worthwhile branded products to nationwide consumers via “ShobShop” application.

We are expanding a team of data scientists who are continuously and closely working with other talented and experienced teams in ShobShop Media to scale our Social Commerce Platform. Our application currently gathers over 1,100,000 registered users, with over 300,000 monthly active users and over 800,000 transactions in the past year.

Our Engineering Team

A small (currently 8) and passionate group of developers who turn our company’s business ideas into reality and keep improving them. We work 8 hours a day, Mon to Fri, mostly at home, sometimes at our cozy office. As an agile team, we keep traditions and ceremonies to the minimum and focus on building our own products. We work closely with other business units in ShobShop to deliver high-quality products to serve our mission and customers. Our main product is ShobShop mobile application, which has several internal softwares and various technologies supporting it e.g. React Native, NodeJS, Google Cloud, Firebase. We are looking forward to expanding our team to further scale our social commerce platform.

Role and Responsibilities

• Lead technical discussions within the team and support the team by providing guidance and troubleshooting problems
• Lead and engage team members in architecture and design discussions
• Build and develop scalable API server using Node.js
• Incorporate Database into API as Data Persistence
• Keep up to date with new technologies and apply them to enhance products and team development
• Set up solid processes and practices around code quality, conventions and standards, and push the team to follow them
• Understand key business metrics and work regularly with the both product and engineer teams to meet the expectations
• Collaborate with frontend developers and architects to deliver robust, high quality API features
• Ensure that all product deliverables are on time
• Supervise sub-level developers

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or higher.
• 4+ years of experience in Software Development, Database and building API Server.
• Experience of leading or coaching a small team.
• Proficiency in any Backend-oriented Programming Languages.
• Well-versed in Tech Landscape.
• Experience with Relational and any other DBMS.
• Experience with Cloud-Native Application Development.
• Experience with Software Testing is a plus.
• Strong commitment to timeline and quality.
• Fast learner and Well adapted to changes.
• Knowledge of Linux or Unix-like systems utilization.
